The 1 arc-min resolution Earth2014 global topography model

Abstract

Earth2014 is a new suite of 1 arc-min resolution grids of Earth's relief in different representations (topography, bedrock, ice) constructed from recent data sets. The Earth2014 model suite provides 1.) elevation grids, 2.) shape grids (geocentric radii of surface relief) and 3.) ultra-high degree spherical harmonic coefficients to degree 10,800. Earth2014, developed at Curtin University and TU Munich, has been released in April 2015 via ddfe.curtin.edu.au/models/Earth2014/.

This contribution describes the development of Earth2014, presents characteristics of grids & degree variance spectra and gives examples for possible applications in global gravity modelling, e.g., high-resolution computation of the topographic potential and its derivatives with forward modelling techniques.
